Time is short but potential experiences are limitless and making the most of absolutely every breath is essential to a full and exhausted life. This posts explores how to start small, plan and make the most of each and every breath.

Making the Most of Each Breath – 3 Steps
Some quick suggestions for expanding your experiences:
1. Start small:
If you want to eat an elephant, take small bites; If you want to have big experiences in your life, start with the small ones.
Some suggestions; if you have never done these before I recommend them as a starting point:
- Go to a restaurant with friends
- Enjoy an Indian Head massage, it’s worth the money.
- Fast for 24, 48, 96 hours: enjoy the feeling of lightness
- Go to good stand-up comedy nights and laugh till you cry
- Visit the theatre
- Think of the thing that scares you most and then do it anyway without thinking:
- Go cliff jumping.
- Swim in the sea.
- Try yoga.
2. Plan:
The difference between people wanting to experience new things and those that actually do is just application.
Most people that seem to always make things happen are only really fundamentally different to others in that they realise the importance of not just having a goal but the necessity of a plan and steps to achieve it.
Plans don’t need to be complicated, a simple written plan to have one small experience a week and one big experience a month is enough for almost 60 new experiences a year. Remember the equation:

3. Take Risks:
There is always going to be a risk associated with any new experience and different experiences will have different perceived levels of risk depending on the individual.
Whether it’s risk of failure, injury, embarrassment or any others it is good to keep in mind that almost all the time the potential experience positives far outweigh any potential negatives. Some people are natural risk takers, the adrenaline junkies, others are not. However, like most things taking risks is a skill that can be learnt, you just have to start small and build up.
No one EVER comes to the end of their life wishing they had taken less risks and had less experiences.
Don’t regret missing out on all the experiences life has to offer you, jump at the opportunities. Decide you want to have more new experiences in your life, make a plan on how you are going to do it, start small and then get out there. You won’t regret it, but you just might if you don’t.

I totally agree that making small efforts over a large time is the way to go. It’s easy to get seduced by the “Results right now” mentality, but ultimately everything worthwhile takes time and effort.
