“There are over 1.8 billion users on the internet.”
.
If you one of the 3000 people a month that are reading this blog then no doubt you have some idea of what the internet is. But what about how it works? Here’s a great info graphic from makeuseof.com that brings some visual stimulating clarity for some of us that tend to spend our lives online.

mate im impressed you got this out on the 23rd when its still only when 22nd, i have heard of getting ahead of yourself but thats ridiculous.
nice work mind, must of taken some time to put together.
Well my friend, I am just that good.
Nice explanation of how it works. How can you know how many internet users there are? Well, I guess it´s all a statistic calculation. The other day I heard that 1 out 3 people on the planet have no electricity.
1 out of 3? I guess that could be about right. Makes you reflect on just how fortunate we are to have electricity and the internet. Good luck with your new blog, I would have left a comment but your comments section send a 404.
Jonny, I got my bug fixed on my site. Thanks for letting me know.
No worries.
Cool post!
Love the visuals and will likely use this page to help explain how the internet works to some of the people I have to train as part of the work I do…
Loving the blog!
Hey man, glad to hear it, though I can’t take the credit. It is all down to those awesome guys over at makeuseof.com, you should check them out.
Great way to break down how to use the net. Next time, we should collab on a few video and see how people take it.
Sounds like a plan. Actually I have a ton of visual info graphs I have collected over the years so perhaps I’ll put a combined post together shortly.
Truely amazing stats! This really puts the overarching influence of internet in perspective. This is something evertone should check out, particularly if they don’t relate to technology much. Very helpful!
What stuck me most was just how quickly the internet got to 50 million users, destroying any media that has come before it. Definitely interesting times in the internet age.
