Hi Steve,

Welcome to the site and thanks for the comments. Nice to hear you have been able to ditch the 2 hour commute and I definitely recommend an extended stay abroad, especially around Asia.

Yeah for those travelling then a good reliable internet connection is paramount. In India this is proving troublesome.

That's interesting Jonny. Location is something that actually drove me to ditch the 9 to 5 job. I live in New Jersey (USA) where you're always driving in congested traffic. It seem ridiculous that I had to drive 2 hours each day to a job where I would waste another 9 hours.

My commute is now a one minute walk into the other room. And when I travel, I simply grab my laptop and I'm ready to work at any point.

Anyway, like the last few points. Gives me a few good ideas if I decide to have extended stays at any particular place during my summer travels.

These are prime considerations when moving anywhere! Absolutely what I considered in the move to Seattle. Yeah, my rent is considerably higher for the location, but I would drive myself absolutely nuts working and living alone if I didn't live in the middle of downtown, minutes from just about everything social!

Are you back on the road?

Hey Jonny,

I've started to reaaaally see the importance of location in the last few months, as getting from one place to another started taking me more time (sometimes close to all of it). The fact that a lot of my work involves a laptop is helping me to use my time more efficiently but now I have one more criteria to analyze a location by: Available Internet Connection. :)

Cheers,
